It's Friday, It's Friday!! Yippee! I still love the weekends. Even though I am a homemaker and 80-90% of the time I do stay in my PJ's. It's good to have the husband home on the weekends so I can talk to an adult about things other than cartoons, imaginary friends, and why one should not run around naked outside where the neighbors can easily drive by and see you in the nude. Thankyouverymuch. So here goes with some Friday fun with Mamma M.











1. What is your favorite Easter tradition?
    Ham. Just kidding.  I guess that would be hunting Easter eggs with my daddy's side of the family. He has 7 brothers and sisters and they each have at least one kid. That equals a lot of kids running around looking for the prize egg. Now it's all of our kids running around hunting for the prize egg which is a lot of fun to watch.


2. Are you a "shower" or a "long, hot bath" kind of person?
   I'm just happy if I have a bath at the end of the day. My kids think nap time is not important anymore so I have to sneak in a shower when a cartoon has them mesmerized. But if  I had the choice a long hot bath for sure.

3. Can you parallel park and if so when is the last time you did it?
    You know, I don't know if I have ever parallel parked in my life. I don't even think I had to during my driving test. I did a three point turn that was really more like a 5 point turn..but I guess that doesn't count, does it?:)

4. What is your favorite Easter candy?
    By far Reese's peanut butter eggs....heaven!

5. Easter: do you go all out with the Easter Bunny or focus on the religious part of the holiday?
   We focus on the Jesus part of Easter and not so much on the Easter Bunny. Easter is about our Risen Saviour, Jesus Christ not about a bunny who sneaks into your house and leaves you eggs and gifts. Does not creep anyone else out? A big rabbit who carries eggs and sneaks into your house? It does me. We do give our kids a gift in their Easter basket's and it's because Jesus gave us the ultimate gift by loving us so much that he gave up his own life for our own.

The week in review..

I know the week is not up yet, but it was still been a long week. Last Saturday we worked outside in the yard. It was such a pretty day. We planted three roses bushes by our front porch and retaining wall. I can't wait for them to grow and produce some yummy smelling roses. We I picked some yellow roses, light pink roses, and some pink with yellow and white mixed in, they are going to look so great! I can't wait. We also planted some fruit trees and created a small flower bed around our mailbox(with sunflowers and morning glories). It was really fun getting outside and playing in the dirt like I was 5. Speaking of 5 year olds,( and 3 year olds and 2 year olds) it was rather warm on Saturday afternoon(almost 90)so we pulled out the garden sprinkler and the kids played in the water. They were in heaven! It made me think about our upcoming trip to the beach. So I counted the days and only....79 more days. :( Woo-hoo! The hubs and  I woke up Sunday with some serious cold issues. This resulted in a weeks worth(actually probably like 2 weeks)of clean laundry piled high in my living room floor. Eeck! It is literally a mountain of laundry. It has been a long time since I have been this behind on laundry. See, it does no good for mommy to be sick. When I am dishes are usually left until the next morning, afternoon, night. The laundry is slowly taking over your entire house and everyday you get to participate in a wonderful little game called: Laundry diving! What? You've never played laundry diving? It's where you search through a 5 foot tall mountain of clothes and search for underwear, socks, PJs, uniforms for work,  or just about anything you can think of. Because, after a week,   2weeks of laundry piled up,you are bound to find anything from toy cars, my little ponies, Barbies, or even an old diaper!(Don't ask!) This is my husband's favorite past time! Forget about baseball, it's laundry diving for him! :) But, today I am feeling much better. I am so glad because tomorrow night the kids are spending the night with Mimi and Paw and it's date night for mommy and daddy! Yes! So for now I am going to take a little hint from the little engine that could: I think I can fold and put away Mt. Laundry I think I can fold and put away Mt. Laundry, I think I can fold and put aways Mt. Laundry!!! Umm....It's not working. Stupid little engine! ;)

Totally Random Tuesday

Today is Tuesday. There is nothing random about it, but the things going on in my life are totally random, most of the time!

• I have been having major Internet issues the last 2-3 months. Why, because we live in the country so we only have one Internet provider option. Who is that? Well the lovely company Windstream. I have been married for 7 years and have had to call more times than I can count and have talked to exactly 2 people who have been nice. My husband called once and had the nicest lady who had our problem fixed first thing this morning. Enough said.
• My son is currently running around naked...again.
• Note to self: potty training would be nice.
• I should be doing laundry instead of blogging.
• I should be cleaning instead of blogging.
• It's a beautiful day today. I have the windows open with a fresh breeze blowing in.
• My children have out grown naps. I am so sad for more than one reason: A)my babies are growing up, B) I no longer have a nap time. Oh well. At least they're asleep by 8:30 at night when they don't have naps now.
• I am now officially a soccer mom! I never thought I would be a soccer mom...yay for new things.*will post pics of the soccer girl later*
• My soccer girl is now 5....What? How did that happen over night?
• I am excited about our new adventure in homeschooling. Nervous a little but mostly excited!:)
• We are planting a garden again this year. Hopefully it will be more productive than last year. I love the idea of growing our own food. We've already started the process and hopefully will be planting, in full, this weekend.
• I love being outside.
• We also planted some Morning glory's and Sunflower seeds in a small greenhouse on Friday and on Sunday they had already started to sprout! They are so tall now! I can't wait to plant them outside soon.
• I'm seriously thinking about putting up a clothes line outside to hang my clean, wet clothes on during the spring/summer/fall*(Fall is a lot like summer around Alabama you know...hot!).
• Am I becoming a "granola mom" ? Hmm, maybe...If I am, I think I like it!
• I love my life!
• That is all!

So, where is the global warming?

You know the global warming that some crazy people start yelling about the moment that spring comes around? Because around here, it doesn't exist! We have had severe winter weather in Alabama for a week. A week. It's not snow. I could handle snow. At least you can take 3 bouncing off the wall children lovely, well behaved children out in the snow to play. But what we had was ice. At least three inches of solid  ice, that only started to really melt today! What? This is Alabama for the love of all that is important! It started late Sunday evening. So naturally all the bread and milk, where in high demand. What does milk and bread have to do with snow? Well, everything. See because we rarely get snow here people panic when they hear the dreaded 4 letter word. So I guess making milk sandwiches helps them cope.... I don't really know why. I don't want to eat milk sandwiches. Yuck. Anyway, because of all the ice, roads where closed for at least 2 days and some places are still closed today. That my friend is too much ice. On Monday and Tuesday, the husband was stuck at home because he could only make it out of the garage. There was no going up our hill of a driveway. Yay! I was excited he got a four day weekend. It made me happy! So on Monday, before we knew our snow covered yard was really covered in ice a glacier, we got the kids all bundled up. Because we don't actually have snow suits, we had to do layers and layers of clothes so fingers and toes wouldn't fall off. So about 45 minutes after convincing Sweetie Pie that it was ok to keep her PJ's on under her clothes, trying to keep the boy happy with cartoons(Yeah, we're those kind of parents) because he needed to build a "no-man" and  couldn't wait to go outside, all while trying to find Sweet Pea some warm clothes because for some reason they where all in the laundry room(...dirty, of course) we finally headed out the front door. (That was more fun than any family of 5 should have.) Only to find, everything was solid ice. Boy, where there some disappointed parents kids. They tried to make a snow ball but failed when they couldn't pick up the glorious white stuff we usually only get maybe once a year. Poor me Poor kids. After staying on the ice for about 30 minutes it started raining again so we had to go back in. The girls where ok with it because they wanted some hot chocolate, the Boy not so much. He was angry at his daddy for taking him back in, so while my husband was taking his boots off outside the front door, my boy was crying very loudly and  shutting the front door...and trying to lock it.(hehehehe...it was pretty funny.) So there is our story of the first hard freeze in 40 years where I had to walk up the hill both ways....just kidding.[It's only been 20 years;)]

Why do you have 4 sippy cups under your bed?

This is the question I was asking my son while I was cleaning his bedroom. Even though he wasn't there. My momma watched my 3 wonderfully messy children for me earlier this week so I could clean their not so wonderfully messy rooms and get rid of old toys that they don't play with anymore. All moms know you really can't get rid of toys with the kid there because they will open up their tear ducts at the drop of a hat and swear they just played with that toy yesterday, even though it was a month ago and they really just forgot they had it. No thank you to that drama. Anyway, I found myself asking lots of questions to my absent kids. Like, Sweet Pea, do you really have to keep every. little. piece. of. paper?! If there is a picture of a cute little puppy, the girl thinks she should keep it so she can have a picture of the "perfect pet" to show her daddy. You know, in case he forgets that she has asked for a dog(or a pig, or a goat, or a chicken, or a..well you get the idea!) every single day for the past 6-8 months, give or take a month. Or year. I also found half of Sweet Pea's toys(that she got for Christmas, mind you) under Sweetie Pie's bed. This really doesn't shock me since Sweetie has a tendency to hide stuff she wants to play with and finds it later when her sister or brother have forgotten about it. She also does this with DVDs that she doesn't want to watch. She hides them. In her sock drawer. I found 3 or 4 in there the other day. SIGH. After conquering the girls' bedroom's, I had to take a break. It was exhausting. I took a little lunch break then moved on to the Boy's room. (I swear I  just heard music from a horror film play in the back round...)Why are boy's so messy and gross? And they really don't out grow it. I love my husband. Where was I going with that? Oh yes. I found about 3 diapers(only 1 was used..thankfully, #1, not #2...again, thankfully!) all under toys. You know since he's in this I think I'll just go naked stage! This is also where I found the 4 sippy cups. Under his bed. I guess he was saving them. Why I don't really want to know. Or it could be that Sweetie was hiding them because she still secretly likes to drink from a sippy cup. (Poor Sweetie, she is such a middle child!) So 3 bedrooms, 4 1/2 hours, 2 trash bags of broken toys and trash(thanks to Sweet Pea, saving every.little.piece.of.paper.)and 2 trash bags of toys to give to Goodwill, I emerged victorious! Until I stood up straight after 4 1/2 hours of leaning over toy boxes and couldn't move for  a few minutes and had to use a heating pad so I could you know, walk again. Then I felt the victory dance coming up as I was getting the vacuum cleaner out of the closet and  I remembered that the belt on the vacuum cleaner was broken.  Oh well, you can't win them all! At least you could tell that there were bedrooms in our house and not a garbage dump!

P.S. the room stayed clean for exactly 1 hour and then the tornado triplets came home and well you can figure out what happened next...

Catch up and by the way happy 2011!

It has been one busy holiday season! Not only did we have the normal every year celebrations like everyone else, we also had 2 birthdays thrown in the mix. We went out of town for Thanksgiving followed by about of month of sickness, that everyone willingly shared with one another and one gall bladder surgery for yours truly. I am glad to have that sucker out! It had been giving me problems off and on for close to 5 years since I was preggers with Sweet Pea. It was busy but aside from a few rough days, it was a great holiday season! We had such a peaceful Christmas where we were surrounded by family and friends. This year was the first year without Grams. It was sad not having her around during Thanksgiving and Christmas as well as the two little kids birthday's.But we also rejoiced knowing that she is celebrating Christmas with Jesus. As my girls said is she singing Happy Birthday to Jesus? And I said well she probably is babies!  So I'll be playing catch up with my blog posts over the next few days. I hope to be a better blogger this year than last. (With 3 kids that's always up in the air!) There are many new things coming our way this year. Not just in our lives but also on my blog. I plan on incorporating some recipes in my blog. Since I love to cook, I figure why not share something else I love? So I hope things will be a little different this coming year. We will also have a brand new experience this year with Sweet Pea starting school and as if that wasn't enough of a new thing we will also be homeschooling her. After praying about it, homeschooling is the right decision for us at this time and we are so excited about this new adventure!  So until next time, I hope everyone has a very happy and blessed New Year!

Family Trip to Noccalula Falls

We recently went to a local state park for a picnic lunch and to spend some time together. We wanted to take the kids somewhere they had never been and they seemed to really enjoy it and so did I! We went on a train ride, the kids LOVED that, and we even got to pet a doe and a deer. And for those who know my family...it was alive and not hanging on a wall already dead, so that made it even more fun for the kids! In case you were wondering, we do support PETA around here. Well, at least my husbands form of PETA....People Eating Tasty Animals! (What did you expect? We are from Alabama for crying out loud!) Anyway, here are some pictures, I hope you enjoy!
