I came across the blog The Better Mom through another blog. (Her name is Miranda, and is a friend from way back when, I couldn't drive. That was ...... years ago. If you would like to check out her blog His path, My steps, you will not be disappointed!) The Better Mom blog is really a great way to be encouraged. They have a link up called Better Mom Monday. I thought I would give it a shot. If you would like to join in the fun go Here and link up!
Welcome to Monday! A day most people dread and hate. How can you hate what God has given us? This is the day that the Lord has made I will rejoice and be glad in it.(Psalm 118:24) You are so blessed! Even if you don't think so, you are. Let's start by asking ourselves a few questions. Ok?.....Ok!
1. Are you alive today? If you're reading this, you are. Are you breathing? Are you able to get out of bed and live your life? Life is meant to be lived on Monday's too! Even more so, actually. If you are a believer in the Savior and you attend church, you should still be overwhelmed from the previous day's worship service. It's true that the service isn't meant for us, it's meant to worship our Lord and Savior, Jesus! But the bible also says that "Iron sharpens iron; so a man sharpens the countenance of his friend." (Proverbs 27:17) You have been around others who have been in worship with the King! You should be happy that you live in a country, that you can go to the church of your choosing and that you do it freely, with others who believe the same! Many countries have to attend church in secrecy. They can't even associate with other believers, in fear that they may not make it to Monday. That their children may not make it to Monday.
2. Do you have a warm bed to sleep in? Or how about, clothes that keep you warm when it's cold, AND clothes that keep you cool when it's hot? Do you have shoes on your feet? Do you have more than one pair of shoes? How about, a shower? Did you wake up this morning, in a bad mood, because you have a warm bed you slept in last night, a nice hot shower, indoor plumbing, clothes that are worthy of snow, multiple shoes to choose from, a job to go to, a family that is well? When you think about it, it really shouldn't be that bad of a morning. It could be a lot worse. You could have slept in a house with flimsy walls, no indoor plumbing, not even a shower to clean yourself in, no clothes except the ones your wearing, and maybe a pair of shoes. Blessed. That is what you are!
3. Are you hungry? Did you go to bed with your belly full last night? Did you kids go to bed complaining about being hungry(and not just because you wouldn't give them a bowl of cereal at 8:00 pm because they WANTED it, just because!)? Did you wake up this morning and have a cup of coffee and a nice warm breakfast? I did. My kids will. Do you worry where your family's next meal is coming from? Or do you go to the pantry and contemplate over the many choices to choose from?
4. Do you have a Savior, who willing gave his life so that you may live? I do. He loves me." For God so loved the world that he gave his only son, that who ever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life." (John 3:16) Good news! I believe! He calls me by name. He is my provider. He is my help in time of need and when my kids think I need to clean up a bathroom full of water because they wanted to go swimming(which trust me, is a time of need!). He is everything I need. He is the peace in my life when fear tries to creep in. He is the reason, I rejoice in a new day. A new day to teach my kids about his mercy and his grace. A new day, to clean my house with joy, because this is the calling of my life, to take care of what he has given me. A new day to cook supper for my husband, because he deserves it after a long day at work. A new day to teach my daughters and son how a wife, a mother, a lady should act. A new day to worship my God. He has given me everything in my life, the very least I can do it be grateful for it!
I hope that you would step back and take an inventory of all that is good in you life on this Monday morning. That you would for just a minute make a mental list of all you have to be thankful for and not say one negative thing about anything or anyone on that list. When you put things in perspective, your attitude tends to change. If you have a great attitude about the upcoming day(even if it looks like you're not going to stop for 5 minutes, because you son just brushed his teeth with dial soap...again) you will rub off on the people around you. Remember, you kids learn just as much from watching you, as they do from listening to you. Happy Monday! You are blessed!
