Family Trip to Noccalula Falls

We recently went to a local state park for a picnic lunch and to spend some time together. We wanted to take the kids somewhere they had never been and they seemed to really enjoy it and so did I! We went on a train ride, the kids LOVED that, and we even got to pet a doe and a deer. And for those who know my family...it was alive and not hanging on a wall already dead, so that made it even more fun for the kids! In case you were wondering, we do support PETA around here. Well, at least my husbands form of PETA....People Eating Tasty Animals! (What did you expect? We are from Alabama for crying out loud!) Anyway, here are some pictures, I hope you enjoy!

Eating at the big rock picnic table

as usual, not everyone is looking right at the camera
at least you can see their faces!:)

Happy Birthday to my baby.....

Who is no longer a baby! He turned 2 years old the beginning of November. How in the world did that happen so quickly? I mean, I just had this  9lb 4oz baby boy yesterday, right? How time flies! Now I have a 4 year old and two 2 year olds who are not twins! I love to see the reaction I get when I tell people that...priceless! I'm glad we had our kids close together, if not for the reaction of complete strangers who ask if they are twins (the boy is as big as Sweetie Pie!)and then try to hide their shock when I tell them no! Hahahahaha...ahem....anyway... My boy had a Blues Clues party this year. It's one of his favorite cartoons.(And yes he has many because he is a male and we know how males are with their TV shows....) So Happy Birthday to my sweet little boy who never fails to keep me and the rest of the family on our toes! We love you!

My sweet boy, only a few days old!

His "Blue" cake and his "Clue" cake!

Singing happy birthday to him!
(He was singing happy birthday to himself all week!)

My baby that is no longer a baby but a little man!

5 Question Friday!

It's Friday, It's Friday, I'm so happy it's Friday! I know I don't work outside the home but I still love Friday! The weekend is still the weekend and I love it! It means my wonderful husband is going to be around to help with his offspring who act just like him and I get to spend valuable time with him!;) Just kidding.(about the kids acting just like him not spending time with him...I think!) Any who... Here are 5 questions you may or may not know the answer to. If you would like to join in and share a little about yourself, head on over toMy little life and join the fun!

1. Did you have a pen pal when you were little (or now)? Where were/are they from?
I think I did once, but I don't remember her name or where she was from. I did write to my husband when he was in Iraq. Does that count?

2. If you could do a different job for one day, what would it be?
If I could do a different job for one day it would be a doctor. I wanted to be a doctor once. If I had two days to change jobs the other one would be a forensic anthropologist. You know like the TV show Bones. It would probably be an interesting job to say the least!

3. Do you remember your biggest fear from when you were little?
I so hate horror movies. I have an active imagination and if I were to see one it would be in my head for a week. But I didn't watch them often at all. I still refuse to watch a scary movie. I was freaked out by The Ghost and Mr. Chicken for crying out loud!

4. What do you think is a waste of time? Why?
  1. Cleaning my children's rooms. Actually cleaning at all. It seems pointless because it is messed up as soon as I put away the mop and vacuum. At least, I think it's pointless until I see or even think about the TV show Hoarders. Then I get the creeps and clean.
  2. Facebook. I happen to like Facebook, but really it's a waste of time when you think about it. You can be on it for an hour and not even realize it. Makes me wonder, do they have a Facebook Anonymous?

5. What is the oldest item you have in your closet?
The oldest item in my closet is a pair of Birkenstock clogs. I have had them for probably 13years. I really don't wear them that much, but I had to pay for them myself. I spent all summer washing dishes at the Springville Cafe and saved most of it so I could buy those shoes. They cost $112 and some change, maybe that's why they're still in my closet!:)

Hello October!

I can not believe it is October 1, 2010! How did that happen so fast? I saw that someone had counted down the days until Christmas on Facebook the other day. Only 84 days until Christmas...your welcome. I bet you in full panic mode now, huh? This year I actually, though I can't believe it myself, have 98% of my kids Christmas shopping done. And I didn't pay full price for any of it! I have been blessed to find all of their gifts anywhere from 50-75% off the original price! Woot! I'm sure when they get older that it will be more difficult to find their gifts on sale so early but they are all under 5, so they are usually happy with anything! But, I did stay very close to their wish list, even though it changes every day. (See Nick Jr., this is why we watch the Disney channel...no commercials with crazy toys like, moon sand and dolls that swim or cars that fly through the air. You try explaining to a dramatic four year old why the doll doesn't swim by itself...no thank you!) The only thing I have to buy is a couple of small things for The Boy for his stocking and candy. Last year we went the day after Halloween and bought Halloween candy for 50% off, hid it and put it in their stockings and they were none the wiser. So November 1st will take care of the candy for stocking part! It is finally fall here in Alabama. It only took us a month to catch up to the rest of the world but I am not complaining! It's only been 95 degrees for 6 months...that 's all! I've had the windows up and the AC off. It's so nice not to step outside and  melt like the wicked witch on The Wizard of Oz. Also in Alabama we have what is known as football season. Now, football season is a little different here in Alabama than it is in other states. People have an obsession. They dress their kids up in their favorite team's colors and take pictures and post it on Facebook and their blog.
Um, yeah...I would totally never be that crazy about the best team in the world. Hehehe! Anyway...

I am so excited it's cooler and I can actually make soup. It's just a written around here that you can't have soups or chili until the high is less than 80. Thankfully it didn't get any hotter than that so I made a really yummy potato soup and a spicy chili this week. I love this time of year. We also found out that my younger brother and his girlfriend are going to be having a little boy come January! I am so excited. I've started buying him a few things here and there. He is going to be so spoiled! My kids are excited to have another cousin they can play with. Although, I think they will be a little disappointed when they find out he can't walk, or even crawl when he's born! I guess that my brother's boxer bulldog, L.D. will have to be their playmate until baby E, gets older. L.D, according to Sweet Pea, is her favorite dog. It's also my favorite dog...because it's at their house and not mine! Anyway...I guess that all that's been happening around the Fowler Farm lately. Except, that my two younger kids are tag teaming and wrecking havoc on my mental status, but that is a completely different post! So until next time...

Nap time....You gotta love it!

I love nap time. You can read all about what I do at nap time here. I so enjoy nap time. My kids are happier, I'm happier. What's that saying, "If momma ain't happy ain't nobody happy?" I think this is true. Anyway, the part I love most about nap time is the beautiful, sweet(because they are sleeping!) children that look so peaceful when I sneak in the rooms to take pictures of them.
Like Sweetie Pie, falling asleep in the middle of her messy bedroom, with her leg crossed, naturally!

Or the boy, who falls asleep on his big sister's bed because hey, what better way to keep her out of her own room?!

Or this Sweet Pea here, who poses for every photo, even when she is suppose to be resting.(Notice her leftover lunch on her face...)
Or plays with ponies and apparently toy guns and cowgirl hats
Then she lines her ponies up on the window sill, just as perfect as possible...I wonder if she shot them with the toy gun first?

Nap time....you gotta love it! I sure do!

Five Question Friday!

It's 5 Question Friday! Time to link up with My Little Life and have some fun to kick off the weekend! Enjoy!

1. What do you do when you have time to yourself? Reading a good book or a tabloid *eck!* magazine. Or just about anything as long as it doesn't involve Mickey Mouse or Sid the Science Kid! I do love to watch reality TV. I know, I know!  No show in particular, just give me something involving New Jersey or a fashion runway and I am hooked! But if I am not at home, I would have to say shopping or going to the movies is also relaxing to me!

2. When you look out your kitchen window, what do you see? My grill. Just Kidding! I do see my grill but over my grill, I see really tall pine trees touching the beautiful blue sky. I love it! I live in the country and love to see it every morning when I fix my cup of coffee!

3. Who/What would you want to be reincarnated as? Well, I don't actually believe in reincarnation. But for fun, I would have to say myself. I love my life and the person I am, so why would I want to be anyone else?!

4. What is your biggest pet peeve about other people's kids? Manners and respect. I am from the south, and when I hear a child saying yeah instead of yes sir or yes ma'am, it really drives me crazy. And when children have no respect for their parents or anyone else for that matter, it really makes me want to scream. If a child isn't respectful to you now at the age of 5, what makes you think they will be at the age of 16? I'm just sayin...

5. Regular or Diet soda? When I drink soda, it's zero calories for me! I have just started a healthier eating plan (about 2 weeks ago) and have already lost 6 pounds! Go me!

Not Me Monday.....

Welcome to Not Me Monday! A time to cut yourself a little slack for doing things a little bit off beat...because hey, you know you're not the only one! If you would like to join in just head on over to Mckmama's and join in the fun!

It is {not} my child, my sweet little boy, who has decided he needs "chechup" and "mimurd" (aka ketchup and mustard) at every meal. EVERY  MEAL!! And I am {not} the one who gives into this 21 month old's obsession. Especially, because I think it's so hilarious when he says, "I got my poon, I need chechup and mimurd!" It also was{not} the same child who decided to cover his entire head in ketchup today at lunch, causing his mommy to interrupt valuable nap time to give the messy boy a bath! Nope, {not} my child! It is also {not} me who has bribed the middle child with a new baby doll if she would only start pooping in the big girl potty. It is still sometimes{unbelievable} that I get excited when a very small person in this household uses the potty. I would{never} get excited over certain bodily functions. HA! It is {not} me who gets a little teary-eyed when I think about my oldest baby starting school next year! It's {not} me who is so surprised by how fast time flies! Nope, I would {never} do something like that.....Oh, no....{not}me...sniff sniff! Ok, I'm better...good thing we have decided to home school! ;) But it {is} me who is so incredibly blessed to be a SAHM(stay at home mom!)and to have such wonderful children!

Five Question Friday!!!

Five Question Friday is a fun little way for you to get to know others better. I came across it on fivecrookedhalos.blogspot.com. It's a really fun blog about mommies and babies and all the fun and eventful things that go along with life as a mom! I thought I'm a mom, I have at least one "disaster" a day and I like to hear about the lives of others who may or may not have a daily disaster to take care of, so why not participate?! Here are the Five Questions and Answers....Enjoy!:)

1. Have you ever visited another country? If you consider all the countries at Epcot in Disney World another country then yes! If not, then no! I would love to go Europe one day. The places in particular I would LOVE to go are: Ireland, Scotland, Greece, and most of all, my #1 on the list...Italy!

2. Where is the strangest place you have ever been? I don't think I've really been anywhere that was just creepy. Although, there was one time when my friend, Meredith, and I walked into The Purple Haze in Panama City and decided rather quickly that it was a bad idea and turned around and left...in a hurry! So I guess that would be the strangest place I've ever been!

3. What is your favorite season? My favorite season would have to be fall. I love the cooler weather. I love the color of the changing trees. There is just something about making apple pies and celebrating Thanksgiving in the cool of fall! I love it!

4. What one song will always cheer you up? I would say any song from Grease! It's just a fun soundtrack. It reminds me of an opening number I did when I was in the Queen of Hearts pageant wwwwaaaayyyy back in the day!

5. What Disney character do you resemble most? I don't know. My girls usually tell me I'm the queen. So I hope that doesn't mean that I am the Queen of Hearts from Alice in Wonderland or the scary queen from Snow White! ;)

Tonight...I am sleeping on the couch!

You know how in movies, and probably in real life, when couples get in a fight and angry with one another they end up saying something like..." You are sleeping on the couch tonight...buh-bye!" Well I was thinking last night how when you're a parent of small children, especially more than one, who think that because you have a king size bed it's meant for the whole family so why should they sleep in their own bed , you would gladly spend the night on the couch. In fact, I even had the idea that you could almost go as far as start a fight over something so silly, and then say fine...I'll just sleep on the couch tonight! This would be a HUGE victory! Like, Alabama winning the National Championship last year big! This plan just might work but probably not for long. Eventually, the husband is going to catch on, he's a pretty smart man. When he sees that your getting a full 7 hours of sleep and looking so happy and rested in the morning, he'll put 2 and 2 together. And when he figure's out your evil but oh so wonderful plan then he would turn the tables on you and he would have the couch. The wonderful couch that is elbow, knee, head, hiney, and multiple child free! And you have a good 2 1/2 to 3 feet of wonderful comfy-ness(I don't think that's a word I'm around a 4yr old, almost 3yr old, and a almost 2yr old all day...just go with it!)compared to the 2 inches of bed you normally have because your daughter's head and your son's feet are pushing you closer and closer to the edge. I think this is a good plan...to bad the husband reads this it just might have worked!
Tonight I am sleeping on the couch...especially if any of these 3 are in it!

The thing about life and death...

is it's so predictable and yet so unpredictable. Why is that? Life begins and life ends everyday but somehow in between the loads of laundry, the two baths a day(because some little boy decides it's a good idea to put mustard, onion dip, ketchup, or really anything in his hair. If you can imagine it he has probably done it and then laughed about it!)and living from day to day we forget about life and death. We had the most unfortunate thing happen to us this past week. My very young mother in law, Elaine, passed away last Wednesday. She was diabetic and had been since she was 8 years old. She would have been 58 years young this month. She was a wonderful lady. She had faith unlike anyone I have ever seen. She had been through almost every illness that goes along with diabetes and she never lost her hope in Jesus. Doctor's said she wouldn't live past her early 30's and yet she lived to be almost 58. Ha! I guess God showed them! She was in a diabetic coma when my husband was younger and they didn't think she would wake up from it....but she did. She lost her foot and part of her leg about 5 years ago and she stood up and walked. She was strong willed, full of hope, full of faith, and full of love. She never once in all that she went through denied our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. If someone who went through all of the sickness that she did, never turned away from God, then we who are healthy have no right to. She loved her grand babies more than life itself. She had 8 grandchildren that meant everything to her. Thankfully she was able to see all of them at least once more in the past couple of years before she passed away. I am thankful to her for raising such a Godly man, who is a wonderful husband and loving father. She was a loving mother, a proud grams, a wonderful sister and daughter and loyal friend. She is already missed but I know that she is in a much better place. In fact, both of my girls(who are 4 and 2 1/2) told me and my husband that they saw Grams and Jesus. Sweet Pea said,"I see Jesus kissing Grams on the head!" Sweetie Pie said, "I see Grams and Jesus running all around on her new leg!" You can call it what you want but I know that kids can't make that up. As my pastor's wife said, if we would just open up our hearts like children do and get rid of all the nonsense that's around us, we too would be able to see and speak to Jesus so easily. I am so blessed to have had her in my life. We love you Grams.

It seems like I have commitment issues....

With my blog that is! I have been so busy with this yummy summer weather that I've seemed to neglect my sweet little blog...again! Oh well...Life is good, what can I say? Although I must say as much as I like being warm and not freezing cold, I like the weather much better when it's 70-82 degrees. I'm trying not to complain so much but really, this heat is for the birds! Anyway, we got two new kittens for the kids a couple of weeks ago. Now we have one that is about to go back to Mimi and Paw's house. Why? Well... It all started when we first got them. The girls picked out the names: Edward and Lily. They are/were super cute and sweet, everyone of the Fowler's thought so(even Micah will admit that Lily is a cool cat- this is saying a lot, believe me!) especially the Boy who decided to pick them up by their ears and their tails, oh yeah and by a hand full of fur. Poor cats. I am surprised they made it this long. Well earlier this week Edward disappeared when we went to Wal-mart. We saw him before we left and haven't seen him since. And the other major deciding factor in the removal of the felines is that I am allergic to them. I thought that I had outgrew this but I found out otherwise when I couldn't breathe out of my nose, my head was aching, and my eyes were red and watering. I was really afraid that my girls would be devastated over losing Edward and giving Lily back but surprisingly they are fine. My drama queens are fine. Amazing. Moving on, here are a few pics of my babies holding their "babies" aka their cats.

Cowgirl Sweet Pea....

My little Sweet Pea has been four for well over a month and I'm finally getting pictures on here from her party. This year she is all about Jessie the Cowgirl from Toy Story. So, naturally, we had a cowgirl party. This is all she's talked about for about 6 months! She loves to have a party, it doesn't matter who it's for just as long as she's a part of it! And I must admit, that I LOVE planning their parties as much as they love to be at them. So here are some pictures from her Cowgirl day of fun! Enjoy!
