E's baby dedication....

My nephew, Baby E, was dedicated at church this past Sunday. He is the cutest baby, only second to my 3 munchkins, of course! This is the same baby E that my kids love to pieces. They are always asking about him, when they can see him again, and when is his birthday party. Because, my kids seem to revolve around birthday parties and who is invited. Of course, baby E is always on the list. :) I was so excited to be a part of his dedication at church. You may remember my kids have had an outbreak of chicken pox recently, so my wonderful Husband stayed home with the 3 pox triplets so I could be a part of this wonderful time in my brother, sister(in law), and nephew's life. So thank you Mr. Wonderful, you are well, wonderful! :) Here are some pictures from Sunday. I am so happy to share them with you.

He has such a bright happy smile.
*For some reason, blogger will only let me upload this one picture. So I'll try to post some more pictures as soon as I figure out what in the world is going on!

What do Strep, Chicken Pox, and Cookies have in common?

Absolutely nothing, except that they have all happened in the past 3 days. In my house. It started with Sweetie Pie, a fever, and a soar throat on Tuesday. On Tuesday afternoon, a diagnosis was given of Strep Throat. Yay! NOT! Then came Wednesday, it started with itchy spots and a low grade fever. The day ended with a diagnosis of Chicken Pox because of the chicken pox booster shot Sweet Pea received approximately 2.5 weeks ago. Yay again! Wait, what? No. What is not happy? would be the proper answer Alex. Thankyouverymuch. So within 24 hours we have fevers, strep, and pox all rolling around the Fowler house and mama having a migraine on top of it. Thank God, for Mr. Wonderful who took a sick day at work and took Sweet Pea to the doctor and took care of those who couldn't take care of themselves. Me included. So what better to do with a migraine hangover, a kid with strep and a kid with chicken pox? Why make non-bake peanut butter oatmeal cookies, of course. The Mr. was called back into work that night for a few hours, and Mimi came over to help with baths, since I was still feeling a Little puny. It ended up that Mimi took the boy to spend the night since he was strep-chicken pox-fever free. That was until the following morning. He woke up with a low grade and about 7 spots on him. Yeah. He also has several little bumps under the skin that you can see if the light hits him just right, and you can feel them. So here we are, sitting in the house. Doing laundry and spraying the kids down with Lysol everywhere. But, the oatmeal cookies made my babies happy and my husband. Did I mention they are so good? I didn't well, they are so good. And super easy to make. HERE is the original recipe. I followed it the way it's written. Except I may have added a little more vanilla, because well I love vanilla. So here's some pictures. Enjoy!

Apple Pie in a Jar

I would like for you to sing a song, any song as long as the lyrics are: I'm going to the beach in 10 days, I'm going to the beach in 10 days. It will be fun. It will be sunny and sandy and fun. I can. Not. Wait!!! Okay, you can stop singing now. Really, you can stop now. STOP! Jeez, lets not get carried away, here. :) This is not about  the beach. But it could be because, well I forgot to take pictures of half of the recipe. I guess, my head was laying on a beach towel and my toes where wiggling through the sand. And a cool breeze was cooling me off. And the fresh smell of Apple Pie is moving through my nose.  Um, what? Oh, that's right, Apple Pie in a Jar. It is yummy. It's an apple jam. It's not a jelly or an apple butter but a yummy mix between the two, a jam. It will be really great and warming on a homemade biscuit. Sigh. A homemade biscuit with Apple Pie filling on a nice cool day in the Fall, when leaves are falling and football is coming on the TV. Fall. Biscuits. Football. Apple Pie in a Jar. I can't wait. So I'll just eat it now and dream of the beach and Fall because those two things go together.  Yeah. Maybe? Maybe Not? The recipe with half pictures. Enjoy!

And this concludes the picture portion of our blog. HA! I will put a link up for the recipe. It is really easy to make and very enjoyable. This was the first time I had ever canned anything by myself. I feel accomplished. My great grandmother and my mom would can all the time in the summer. If you can think of it, they canned it. It was always so hot in that little house but I am glad I remember it. I was able to tell my kids about how their Mimi cans, and how their great great grandmother canned also. It was really a lot of fun. So if you would like to take a few hours and forget about,  semi-forget about your up coming vacation and make something homemade, this is the thing to do. It will be filling on the beach(well, in a beach house, I don't think sand and jam go together very well!)or waiting for football to come on. Go HERE to get the recipe. The only thing I did different was add nutmeg to the cinnamon, because that's how I make my homemade apple pie. Enjoy!

Oh happy day!

Today is a happy day! It's been a pretty good week too. Lets see, what did we do? First, we I tried to get caught up on laundry. Did you notice the word tried? Yes, well it didn't work. Tuesday, I took my baby my big girl to see Cats and Dogs: The Revenge of Kitty Galore at the theater. They show older movies on Tuesdays and Wednesdays for $1.00 a person. That's not bad if you ask me! They do take the money and donate it to charity, so it makes it that much better! We had a blast. It was crowded at the theater but not so bad in the actual movie that we saw. Next week, I'm taking daughter #2 to see Charlotte's Web. It's good to go places together, just one on one and spend time with each kid individually. I love being a mom. Just an FYI for you. :)On Wednesday I successfully defeated my mountain of laundry tried to get caught up on laundry. It didn't work. I hate laundry. I'm seriously thinking about singing a song like the princess on Enchanted so the birds and ....mice....and cockroaches....uh, yuck never mind, I'll just do the stupid laundry. Then Thursday, I took the kids to pick out the hubby's Father's Day gift and get groceries. It was hot. Friday was story time at the library. I was going to come home and start laundry, instead we took a nap. Nap + Thunderstorm= 100% better than cleaning and laundry. This brings us to today, Saturday. This morning I made waffles and bacon for the family after the kids gleefully gave him his Father's Day gift. Extreme Hunts for the Wii complete with 2 fake guns. The kids picked it out all by themselves. I then made cupcakes for my daddy's birthday party tonight. We also made some jalapeno jelly and apple jam. I will post pics of the homemade jellies and jams next week. I am so excited. I think I really like canning. But anyway, that is your update from the past week. Complete with no attempted break ins. Thank God. So I hope everyone has a great weekend. I know that so far today it is a happy day! :)

Wow...Just Wow

My kids recently got a book from the library called Lily's Purple Plastic Purse. It's about a little mouse that has big dreams. All her family and friends can say a lot of the time is Wow, just Wow! That is how I would like to describe my life. Wow...Just Wow! I am beyond blessed and have a wonderful, beautiful, loving family. A vehicle that runs and is payed for!(woo-hoo!!) And a beautiful house that hold my family and so many memories. All I can say is Wow...Just Wow! This past Friday, my life was shaken up, put through a test. After a fun day at library for story time, a picnic at the park and a little play time(only a little, because it was 1000 degrees on the playground!)we came home to rest and 2 somebodies decided they wanted to break into my house. While we were here. Scary. Thank God, they only tried and didn't succeed in breaking down my front door. I hid my kids in their rooms and called.....my daddy! I caught his eye, the man who tried to take peace from my home, and yelled at him that I was on the phone with the police. He got in the vehicle and drove off. Fast. My parents only live down the road from me and instinct, actually I believe it was the Holy Spirit reminded me that he was at home that day. And he grabbed his gun and made a road block at the "T" in our sub-division. The thieves made a wrong turn and by the time they turned around, there was my daddy, in the road with a gun. Needless to say, they were a little freaked out. :) They unfortunately, tried to run him over but he shot out their tire. This slowed them down. A lot. Ironically, they decided to change their tire on our friends property and they knew what was going on and called the police. This resulted in them being caught. Thank God. One man was an illegal immigrant, the other had just gotten out of a 25 year stay in prison. Lesson not learned. He had multiple warrants out for his arrest. They are both currently in jail. They were blessed their lives were not taken from them on Friday. I was on my way to get my gun when they left. If they would have stepped through my door, I would have hurt them. I will protect my babies, at what ever cost that may be. They were blessed that my daddy didn't have a clear shot on them. Blessed. I know in the bible God says, that all have sinned and fallen short of the Glory of God, and that He wishes that none should perish, no not one. Even these two, who knew what they did was wrong and did it anyway.Wow...Just wow at the grace and mercy and love of God. The one man told police he that he was about to meet his maker, when he saw," That big white man standing in the road with a gun!" Had it not been for God, he would have. I do not claim to be God and I try not to judge. But the bible does say that we can judge people by the fruit they bear. These men, did not have good fruit. I pray that through this experience that they would get their lives right, and that they would replace their evil deeds with good deeds. I forgive them. Am I naive? No. I have precautions all around my house, just in case of a next time. I pray there is never a next time. Never. But, if there is I will be ready. I pray they get the proper punishment for not obeying the laws. Every thing we do has a consequence...good or bad. They need to pay for what they did. I am moving past this. Sometimes slowly. I am still a little jumpy. My wonderful husband has been just that, wonderful. Supportive. Loving.  He has put security in to affect around and in our house. I am so blessed and all I can say in Wow...Just Wow.
