Today I am linking up with Amber at Airing My Dirty Laundry for:

Hey, It's Okay Tuesday!

I got this idea from Glamour magazine. They have a section called Hey, It’s Okay and will list a bunch of things to be okay about. You're welcome to join in and do something like this on your blog. Doesn't have to be on a Tuesday either. Just make sure you link up! (these are her words, by the way, not mine!) ;)

If you want to link up also head over HERE and join in the fun!

  • To be beyond excited for Christmas!!! I love everything about Christmas!
  • To also try to be patient and take in every single moment because it will never be the same as it is right now. My kids are only 3,4, and 5 once. So I choose to enjoy it!
  • To make homemade biscuits for breakfast and nail it! Thank you!
  • To LOVE Pinterest! It's so much fun. You should try it.
  • To get caught red handed trying to shake a gift my husband put under the tree last night, by my oldest child. She told on me. That is so wrong.
  • To be excited that it is cold and to be a little disappointed that it didn't snow very much here last night. I love snow, for a season, anyway!
  • To be excited to go shopping with my husband for a date night Saturday. It's the small things!
  • To see Breaking Dawn last week. It was awesome! It actually went with the book a lot more than the others!
  • To also know that vampire's don't sparkle. I just love the love story! :)
  • To want to see the new Muppet's movie with my husband and the kids. I may be a little too excited about it. Maybe. Just a little.
  • To want Wipe Out on the Wii. That show is so ridiculous and so entertaining! We laugh all the way through it.
  • To be reading the Gingerbread Man story to my kids(you know the, "Run, run as fast as you can you can't catch me, I'm the Gingerbread Man!") and loving every minute of it.
  • To be making gingerbread men on Friday with the kids.
  • To be making gingerbread men with a foot eaten off and an icing face with a look of horror. It's funny.....you know it is. ;)
  • To know at least my husband will get a laugh out of the crippled gingerbread man.
  • I love him.
  • The end.

Happy Thanksgiving and a story about missing...

Happy Thanksgiving! Yeah, it's a day late and a dollar short, huh? We have had such a relaxing long weekend. The hubs was off from Thursday until Sunday. "You mean 4 whole days?....Daddy is off 4 days in a roll?"(Yes a roll...not a row!)" said, the girls. The kids LOVE when he is off, especially when he is off for longer than just the weekend. We had Thanksgiving lunch at our house. We just got caught up on the dishes....yesterday. I guess cooking for 2 days straight will pile up the dishes. It was nice. The family time, not the dishes. Then on Friday, the kids stayed home with their daddy and I went shopping! Woo-hoo! Black Friday shopping is sooooo much fun! My mama and I went early Friday morning. We decided there really wasn't that much we needed at 10 or midnight.(Wait...10? That's not late. Wait...yes, it is. Ten is bedtime. Thank you and Good Night!) We were at our first store around 5:30 and who was there? Nobody! That's right the longest line we waited in was maybe 20 minutes. All day. We still got some amazing deals. Let all the crazy people go through first, and we'll come in and take our time and find the good stuff! Then Saturday we had a Lord of the Rings marathon, followed by putting up our Christmas decorations. Sunday we went to church and came home and relaxed some more! It was all going great until after supper. Ha! Have you seen Daddy Day Care? You know the part where the little boy comes out of the bathroom and says, "I missed?" Eddie Murphy says, " What do you mean, you missed?" And he walks in with a look of shear horror that can only come from seeing poop in places it shouldn't be! Then it  gets worse when he looks at the ceiling? Yeah, that so happened to us last night. The boy. That's really all I need to say. The boy. I'll save the gruesome details. He at least made it well, for the most part, to the bathroom. Thankfully, it wasn't on the ceiling. Wait....let me go check just to be sure.
Nope, not on the ceiling. Thank God! All I can say is the bathroom is now clean. And so is the carpet around the bathroom. We are short 2 toothbrushes, don't ask. At least, we had 2 extras. At least, he didn't try to "paint" the bathroom. I probably would have quit. So would my husband. We would be on the road to anywhere but Poopyville , USA. With that being said, I cleaned and sanitized all bedrooms this morning, you know just in case we "missed" a spot. Yikes. Well that was more fun than anyone should have on a Sunday night. So I thought I would share so we wouldn't have to bear this disgusting burden alone. (Please, tell me someone knows how to make my child poop in the potty? Please? I will give you 2 hugs and candy cane for any advice to help him "not miss" ever again. Thanks from one very desperate I've tried everything, I'm tired of poop not being in the potty, mommy!) So here's to a better Monday. I hope it's a lot better than last night. :)

The Holidays

The Holidays. I love the Holidays! This time of year is one of my favorite times. One of the most anticipating times. I wait patiently all year for Thanksgiving. It represents a time of family, friends, worship of my Saviour. A spirit of giving and love are so profound, that it makes my heart swell with love and giving, more than any other time of the year. I am so thankful for the many different blessings in my life. My family, that seems to be growing all the time.(Extended family that is...) New sisters, new nieces and nephews. It makes me so proud to be a part of their lives. I love how Thanksgiving is a time where it's all about family. There is no pressure to give anyone a certain gift. It's a time where eating is king and fellowship is queen. We dwell in the royalty of what Thanksgiving is really about. Thanksgiving ushers in Christmas. The tree goes up, gifts get wrapped, Christmas music is never turned off the radio and we worship our King. It's true, we can get caught up in the hustle and bustle of being here and there, with so and so's gift, and don't forget that plate of food. But, if we just slow down and take in the small things, then we realize what Christmas is all about. The birth of a King born in a manger. Without him, we would have nothing. He is the reason my kids eyes light up when they see Christmas lights on a drive around the neighborhood. He is the reason I love quite nights with my husband while drinking coffee and talking about everything and nothing in the warmth of this beautiful home He has blessed us with. It's such a cliche saying but, He really is the reason for the season. As I enjoy the ever growing anticipation of Thanksgiving and Christmas, my prayer is that it would come slowly. That I would be able to look around and absorb every single blessing that is in my life. The laughter that comes from my parent's dining room table at Thanksgiving, when the whole family is together. The memories that come from a familiar dish or a certain smell. That I would not rush the putting up of the tree. If it takes all night for little hands to put ornaments on the tree, then so be it. Because, their hands will only be little once, why rush it? To remember the reading of the Christmas Story that Micah's grandaddy reads every year on Christmas Eve. The true reason. My prayer for you is to slow down, take it all in, and remember the good things you have and be thankful, because the holidays only come around once a year. :)

Getting Pistol whipped by your brother ain't no fun!

Take it from a cowgirl who knows. No, not me. This time. It started out like any other night. Supper....fighting..... bath's..... fighting....fake crying....real crying. Oh, great! What happened? What happened?(Everybody is a chatter box until someone gets hurt, then it's all...We didn't see nothing and I didn't do it!) Daddy came to the rescue!
Sweetie Pie :"AAAAAHHHHHH, takes a deep breath, AAAAHHHHH!" (The girl has a scream that can honestly wake the dead and break glass. All at the same time!)

Me: "Oh, so that's what happened, please go on."

Daddy: " BROTHER HIT HER ON THE HEAD WITH HIS TOY PISTOL!"

Sweetie Pie:" AAAAAAHHHHHHH, takes deep breath, AAAAAAHHHHHH!!!"

Me: " Are you OK?

Sweetie Pie:" AAAAAHHHHH, takes short shallow breaths, NO! Brother sobs HIT ME!!! sobs...

Me: Oh, I guess you're not OK. You have a huge knot and bruise on your head! clears throat because I still sound like a 94 year old chain smoker from these stupid cold  "HEY SWEETIE, YOUR SON HIT HER HARD, SHE HAS A BRUISE AND A HUGE KNOT!"

Sweetie Pie: "AAAAHHHHH takes more shallow breaths....sobs.....deep breath.... AAAAAHHHHH!

Daddy: "WHY IS HE ALWAYS MY SON WHEN HE'S BAD???!!!"

Me: grumbles in a whisper "Because I didn't teach him to pistol whip his sister! I was a good kid! smiles Unless you include those time I told my brother's I wanted to dress them up like a clown, only to really be putting makeup on them. Ha!"

Sweetie Pie: "AAAhhhh! You put make up on yor broders"

Me: "I think you need an ice pack....Come on lets get one!"

And that is a typical Sunday night in the Fowler house. Well let's not be too hasty...It's every night, not just Sunday! :)

You need to go to the Wal-mart's....

This is what my dear sweet boy told me Monday night. He said, " Mommy, you need to go to the Wal-mart's and det me sum Trismas Tree Takes and Ginnnggerbread(he says it like he's been drinking too much egg nog, the alcohol version) Tooties." Translation: Go to Wal-mart and get me some Christmas Tree Cakes and Gingerbread Cookies...of the Little Debbie Variety. I thought it was cute, but not cute enough to go to Wal-mart on a Monday night.  It ended up, that I had to go to the doctor on Wednesday. I sound like I've been a chain smoker for 47.2 years. FYI: I've never smoked a day in my life. Ever. I like my lungs, they're a good friend to have. Especially if you like to, you know, breath. Which I do. So, turns out it's just sinus junk. So, 2 shots, a script for antibiotics and some nasty cough syrup and I'm on my way to the Wal-mart. (I should have gone to Walgreen's but that sweet little boy asked me to get him some Christmas treats. And how could I turn down that little sweet face?!) Oh joy! Not just any Wal-mart but the lovely Pell City Wal-mart. I don't know what it is about that one, but I think the website People of Wal-mart was created for this Wal-mart. There are some characters there let me tell you! I think me and maybe 3 other people in the whole store where the only one's actually walking. Everyone else, was riding in a motorized wheel chair. Maybe, 2 people actually needed it. Oh my goodness. Why do people do that? FYI: Laziness is not a handicap! And on a side note, they don't know how to use the brakes! I am not a tree, do not run into me! Thank you! After I look through the aisles as safely as I can which is not easy with lazy wheel chair drivers almost running into me, I make a b-line for the Christmas Tree Cake and Gingerbread Cookies. I find them as quickly as possible and leave.(After I pay for them of course!) On my way out, the new Chick-fil-A is busy. "Oh, it must be open!" I say to myself. "They have tents in the parking lot....Wait! What? Tents in the parking lot?!" What the crap!?" Turns out the grand opening was the next day. Wow, people. Really? If you were one of the first 100 customers you get a free chicken sandwich for a year. Hmm. I don't know that I would sleep in a tent, in the cold rain, for 52 free chicken sandwiches. I went home and was glad I don't have to go back to the Wal-mart for a while. At least I hope not. I can't take another day out with tents in a parking lot and motorized wheel chairs. I just can't. I get Wal-mart Rage. (kinda like Road Rage but much worse. I think it's hereditary. Moving on. ) So that was my week in a nutshell. Here's to a much happier weekend sans a Wal-mart visit and a voice like a 97 year old chain smoking man.

P.S. Happy Veteran's Day! Thanks for all you do! (If you're a Veteran you can ride in a motorized wheel chair and I won't get Wal-mart Rage....I promise!)

Mommy and Me...

Today is my "normal" grocery day. I use the term, "normal" very loosely. Because well, there isn't anything that's "normal" about our family. I mean, where else can you find enough goldfish pieces in your daughter's floor to actually make a full bag of goldfish, all under a pile of toys? Or where else can you find a 3 year old who refuses to wear anything but underwear when it's 40 degrees outside? Or where a 5 1/2 year wants to pull all of her teeth out so she can get one more dollar?

 {Dear Sweet Pea, please stop trying to pull all your teeth out at once. Soon, you will have no teeth. This is not good because, you don't like mashed potatoes. You do like applesauce and yogurt, so I guess you would survive. But still, let's slow down for now, OK? I mean, you growing up just too fast. And it freaks people out a little that you're only 5 1/2 and have lost 3 teeth. Then again, it really doesn't matter what people think so, pull baby pull. Just slow down, OK? OK! Love, mom who only carries debit card and no cash :)}

 Moving on....
So today I'm going to get groceries. Instead of going by myself, (thanks to Mimi who watches the kids while I go by myself), I'm taking Sweetie Pie. My sweet little soon to be 4, oh my goodness when did my baby turn 4, Sweetie Pie. She is our middle child and I think she feels like some of our attention isn't quite on her as much. We do give her attention but I think she feels like she's not old enough to be like Sis-Sis(as she calls Sweet Pea and Sweet Pea calls her Sissy, so sweet. I love sister stuff.) and too old to get away with some stuff that Brother does. So, I decided she need a Mommy and Me day. Where we eat lunch at her place of choice and my attention is completely on her. I did this back in the summer with Sweet Pea. We went to a movie(free summer movies at Regal!) and had popcorn and enjoyed a fun day together. We are also going to get this week's groceries. This is good for her. She's like me: Shopping Queen!(I am so glad both of my girls LOVE to shop! It makes me smile!) So today the Shopping Royalty will be out and about looking for what deals may be found! :)  I look forward to hearing what she has to say. They're only little once and I really want to soak up every ounce of their sweet voices and imaginations I can. Next up will be The Boy's day! I'm not sure what we'll do together but I'm sure it will be interesting.(By the way my baby will be 3 on Saturday. 3. I may cry.) I am really going to try to make a mommy and me day at least once a month. That may not seem like a lot but it's an improvement from nothing, Right? Right! I was going to try this during the summer but you know how life gets in the way and our priorities shift. So, here's hoping you have a great day! I know I will because with all that I have in my life, how could I not?

P.S. I am totally listening to Christmas music while I'm typing. I love Thanksgiving and Christmas! My favorite time of the year! :)

Update #....Um, Yeah I lost count

Whew....Life is what happens in between blogs. And boy, oh boy life has been busy. Here's a short, medium, long update, since it's been almost a month since I last updated. Reason number one million I haven't updated: Home school. Home school has been going great. We have our "bad" days which really aren't that bad. They just consist of Sweetie Pie chasing The Boy and The Boy chasing Sweetie Pie all while Sweet Pea is trying to guess what sound a letter makes. Guess what sound a letter makes. She has known what every letter says for a gazillion years! At these times, I think why did I want to home school again? Then, there are the rest of the days. The days when, by the grace of God, the two younger ones are being quiet. ( Doing color pages or building blocks, etc.) When Sweet Pea started reading. All by herself. It was the best feeling in the entire world. My baby is reading and I taught her. It really makes me proud of her. She is so smart and loves to read and learn. She is a whiz at math. Loves it! It's days like that, that make me so incredibly happy to be home schooling. Not to mention, the freedom we have. We can home school morning, noon, and/or night. And it's OK! I love it!
Reason number one million and one: Laundry. I loathe laundry. I love for it to be clean. I love for it to be put away. Number of times that actually happens in a month: maybe 3, if, it's a "Super Mom" week. It doesn't happen a lot, but when it does...I really feel like a "Super Mom". But let me tell ya, if I were "Super Mom", Laundry would be my kryptonite! I see dirty laundry in a basket and immediately want to cry. So, instead of wasting tears on such a vicious cycle, I close my eyes and eat a hidden Reese cup and all is back to normal! :) Reason number one million and two:  Shopping! Well, not real shopping, grocery shopping. Which really takes some time. Family of 5 + Budget = lots of stores with sales and coupons. :) And no, I'm not an Extreme Couponing maniac. Most of the time! I don't take 40 hours a week to put together my coupon trips because well I have a life. See reasons one million and one through two. I do like to save money and shop the sales. On a side note: I bought candy for 50% off at Wal-Mart yesterday! Woo-hoo! I put the chocolate in the freezer ( with instructions to the hubs: do not eat!) and into the stockings they go at Christmas! The kids: none the wiser with a sugar high on Christmas morning! :)
PINTEREST. If you haven't tried it. You should. Like yesterday. It is so awesome. They have crafts, food. house stuff, cleaning secrets, you name it, they have it! I found a recipe for Homemade Butterfingers. And Oh. My. Goodness. They are so good and taste just like the real thing. Sigh. I have found so many gift ideas for Christmas. I can't wait to try them out! If you want visit my boards and follow me at http://pinterest.com/fowlerlady/ You will have so much fun! Trust me!
Well I guess that's really the only reasons I have. They are good reasons. Oh, and Netflix added the Vampire Diaries to the instant viewing list! We had never watched it and now we are hooked. It's a really great story. Not for kids, obviously, but very good. Anyway, I just cleaned 1/2 my house and my kids have just re-destroyed the half I cleaned. Sigh. Why? As Sweet Pea said last week when I asked her are you trying to make me crazy? Yes, Yes we are.  :) And so goes life! Have a great day!
